Abstract

This study examines the integration of Malay-Islamic ecotheology, turath literacy, and 21st-century skills as a strategy for strengthening students’ cultural resilience at MTs NU Putra 1 Buntet Pesantren Cirebon. Using a qualitative field approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation involving the madrasah principal, vice principal for curriculum, Islamic Education and NU studies teachers, turath teachers, IT/literacy teachers, student activity advisors, and students. The data were analyzed thematically through condensation, coding, theme presentation, triangulation, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that turath literacy functions as the intellectual, moral, and epistemic foundation of santri, while 21st-century skills are developed through digital literacy, communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The integration of these elements appears in classroom learning, religious habituation, IPNU activities, the use of madrasah facilities, teacher role modelling, and the contextual strengthening of Aswaja character. This study contributes to Islamic education by positioning turath not merely as a classical textual heritage, but as a moral ecology of education that connects pesantren tradition, Aswaja values, technology, and digital culture to strengthen students’ adab, Islamic identity, and adaptive cultural resilience in the multipolar era.
