Abstract

The global ecological crisis necessitates a multidisciplinary approach that is grounded not only in scientific inquiry but also in religious ethics and local wisdom. This article aims to analyze the concept of environmental preservation from the perspective of thematic hadith through an integrative approach that combines the values of hifẓ al-bī’ah (environmental protection within the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah) and the local wisdom of Islam-Malay traditions. The research employs a library research method with thematic hadith analysis (mawḍū‘ī approach), as well as a normative-philosophical framework. The findings indicate that the Prophetic hadiths contain ecological principles such as the prohibition of environmental destruction (ifsād), the encouragement of conservation (iḥyā’ al-arḍ), and the ethics of balance (tawāzun). These principles are aligned with the practices of Islam-Malay local wisdom. The integration of both strengthens the paradigm of Islamic environmental theology, making it relevant for sustainable development.
