Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of an Islamic ecotheology instructional model integrated into English language teaching (Eco-ELT) as an effort to dismantle epistemological dichotomies at the secondary education level. The key concepts underpinning this study include Eco-ELT, Islamic ecotheology (Fiqh al-Bi'ah), and Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the scope of this research is focused on the instructional dynamics between the English teacher and students at MTs Manbaul Huda, Bandung. The primary results indicate that reconstructing learning materials based on transcendental values significantly accelerates vocabulary retention and radically fosters students' prophetic ecological consciousness. The main challenges identified are the students' initially low mastery of functional environmental vocabulary and the rigid duration of formal classroom hours. The practical recommendation of this study promotes the use of visual scaffolding strategies and the Green Labeling movement to transform the school's physical environment into a rich linguistic landscape. This study offers a breakthrough in the decolonization of foreign language pedagogy by introducing a faith-based spiritual dimension to the global Eco-ELT discourse, which has historically been dominated by secular Western paradigms. It establishes an empirically validated framework demonstrating that high-level international linguistic competence and local transcendental cosmological awareness can reinforce each other mutually within Islamic educational institutions.
