Abstract
This study investigates the integration of eco-theological principles within Islamic Education Management (IEM) frameworks as a strategy for building sustainable madrasah culture at MA Nurul Huda Cibojong, Cisurupan, Garut, West Java, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study methodology informed by phenomenological and grounded theory approaches, the research explores how eco-theological values rooted in Islamic cosmological perspectives—encompassing the concepts of khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), and mizan (ecological balance)—are institutionalized within the administrative, pedagogical, and environmental practices of the madrasah. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with school leadership, teachers, and students; participant observation across three academic semesters; and documentary analysis of school policies and curriculum documents. Findings reveal that the systematic incorporation of eco-theological frameworks significantly strengthens environmental consciousness, ethical leadership, and community solidarity within the madrasah. Three core pillars of sustainable madrasah culture were identified: eco-spiritual curriculum integration, green institutional governance, and community-based environmental stewardship. The study contributes to emerging scholarship at the intersection of Islamic education, environmental ethics, and institutional sustainability, offering a contextually grounded model for eco-theological management in Indonesian Islamic secondary education. Implications for madrasah policy, curriculum design, and educational leadership development are discussed.
