Abstract

Conventional instruction in Tajweed (Qur'anic recitation rules) is frequently constrained by the abstract nature of the material and learner fatigue, which risks compromising the accuracy of Qur'anic recitation. This study aims to design, evaluate the feasibility of, and analyze the practicality and effectiveness of Canva-based Tajweed Talaqqi instructional media developed across SMPN 1 Kadipaten, SMPN 1 Pagerageung, and SMPN 2 Ciawi, Tasikmalaya. Utilizing a modified Borg & Gall Research and Development (R&D) framework, this operational research is rigorously anchored in a theoretical hierarchy (grand, middle, and applied theories), encompassing behaviorism, constructivism, and Cognitive Load Theory. The evaluation of effectiveness was conducted using a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design involving control and experimental groups. Validation results from subject matter experts and instructional media specialists categorized this digital product as "Highly Valid" and suitable for implementation without major revisions. Practicality testing demonstrated high operational usability for teachers while fostering positive student engagement through structured infographic layouts and gamification features. Furthermore, effectiveness testing confirmed a statistically significant improvement in learning outcomes for the experimental group compared to the conventional group ($p < 0.05$), accompanied by a high normalized gain (N-Gain) index. The media proved not only to enhance lower- and middle- order cognitive capacities but also to stimulate students' Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in identifying recitation rules. The synthesis of this research concludes that integrating Canva technology effectively reduces students' cognitive load without diminishing the authentic essence of the face-to-face (musyafahah) method, thereby comprehensively synergizing academic and spiritual dimensions.
