Abstract

This study examines the relevance of prophetic traditions in addressing the escalating global environmental degradation of the modern era. Using a descriptive-analytical qualitative method, this research utilizes a thematic approach to reconstruct a comprehensive Islamic eco-ethical framework. The analysis integrates classical Hadith methodology, as mapped in the works of Mohammad Hashim Kamali, with contemporary demands for ecological sustainability. The primary focus of the study lies in the verification of authenticity and the contextualization of Hadiths concerning water conservation, biodiversity protection, and natural resource management. Findings indicate that the prophetic tradition provides a solid metaphysical and moral foundation through the principles of “tawhid” (oneness), “khilafah” (stewardship), and “mizan” (balance). The study identifies that the effectiveness of implementing Islamic ecological values relies heavily on the dynamic integration of “diraya” (substantive criticism) to respond to Anthropocene challenges. The research recommends institutionalizing prophetic eco-ethics into public policy and educational curricula to bridge the gap between spirituality and environmental action. Overall, Hadith serves as an essential moral blueprint for inclusive global environmental movements.
