Abstract

The emergence of the multipolar era presents new challenges for Islamic higher education in preparing graduates who are not only academically competent but also possess ecological awareness and cultural resilience. While the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) has become a dominant paradigm in curriculum management, its orientation often emphasizes technical and professional competencies, with limited attention to environmental ethics, cultural values, and ecological responsibility. This paper aims to reconstruct OBE-based curriculum management through the perspective of Malay-Islamic ecotheology as a philosophical foundation for developing learning outcomes, curriculum design, implementation strategies, and assessment practices. Employing a conceptual literature review, the study examines relevant scholarship on OBE, curriculum management, Islamic ecotheology, and Malay cultural values. The findings suggest that integrating Malay-Islamic ecotheological principles into the OBE framework broadens curriculum outcomes beyond competency attainment toward the cultivation of ecological character, social responsibility, and cultural resilience. This reconstruction proposes a conceptual curriculum management model that holistically integrates knowledge, skills, and ecological values rooted in the Malay-Islamic tradition. The model offers an alternative approach for Islamic higher education institutions seeking to address sustainability challenges, cultural preservation, and global transformations in the multipolar era.
