Abstract
The quality of lecturer research remains a strategic issue in higher education, particularly in Islamic Higher Education Institutions. Research productivity among lecturers varies considerably, underscoring the need to identify factors that influence research performance. One factor presumed to have a substantial influence is lecturers' pedagogical competence. This study aims to analyze the effect of pedagogical competence on lecturer research productivity at STAI Al Masthuriyah and STAI Daarussalaam Sukabumi. This research employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires administered to lecturers, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. Quantitative analysis utilized simple regression techniques, whereas qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that pedagogical competence has a positive and significant influence on lecturers' research productivity, accounting for 83.3% of the variance in research performance. Lecturers with strong pedagogical competence demonstrate better abilities in identifying learning problems, developing research ideas, conducting reflective practices, and integrating research findings into teaching activities. Qualitative findings further indicate that pedagogical competence encourages critical thinking, academic creativity, and continuous professional development, which collectively strengthen research engagement and productivity. The study concludes that pedagogical competence is a dominant factor in enhancing lecturer research productivity. Consequently, higher education institutions ought to enhance pedagogical development programs via training, mentoring, and academic support systems to cultivate a sustainable research culture among lecturers.
